Pulsar Process Measurement has been in existence since 1997, rising in a relatively short time to become one of the foremost non-contacting level measurement instrument manufacturers worldwide. By taking a step forward in echo processing technology, Pulsar have been able to address applications previously thought to be beyond the scope of ultrasonic level measurement. In addition, by improving initial signal processing at the transducer head it has been possible to increase resistance to electrical noise, which has also increased the number of possible applications.
By concentrating on the development of ultrasonic level measurement, we believe that Pulsar can be fairly described as the world technology leader in this field.
The product range has been designed to provide a full range of alternatives, from single point of measurement installations right through to complex multi-point applications with digital communications. The ultrasonic range has been augmented with other products, so for the water industry, interface monitors for the tricky sludge level measurement application have been added together with units that can be used to warn of pump failure. In more general level applications, single point measurement devices are available where continuous level measurement is inappropriate.
Around the world, Pulsar is now represented in many countries by local experts and an extensive structure operates in the USA.
Whatever your requirements for high quality and dependable level measurement, trust Pulsar to offer you a solution.

Continuous Level Measurement
Pulsar is best known for our non-contacting ultrasonic range: Our flagship Ultra3 and Ultra5 devices embody in individual control units a range of fully functioned sophisticated level and flow measurement solutions for a wide range of applications. Sister product Zenith is designed to give ultimate control over the functions of a pumping station, while Ultra Twin provides two channels for control or flow measurement in a single control unit. blackbox, a component ultrasonic system, fits within a distributed control network to provide superb reliable level measurement with a range of different output options. Ultra and blackbox will each work with the full range of Pulsar transducers.Completing the lineup is IMP, self-contained ultrasonic measurement without compromise, configurable as two or three wire and perfect in either liquids or solids applications.
Pulsar ultrasonics feature superb DATEM echo processing software, allowing Pulsar units to successfully discriminate between echoes and give a true measurement in many cases where ultrasonic equipment would have been unusable only a few years ago. With initial signal processing taking place in the transducer, Pulsar units are highly resistant to electrical noise.

Ultra 3 and Ultra 5
Ultra 3 and 5 represent the leading edge of ultrasonic level measurement and control. Sophisticated, full function controllers with either 3 (Ultra 3) or 5 (Ultra 5) control/alarm relays. Wall, fascia, panel or rack mount, Ultra 3 and 5 units provide large displays with intuitive and straightforward menu programming. An Ultra system consists of a control unit and a transducer, which may be positioned up to 500 metres away. Both Ultra 3 and Ultra 5 have the option of bus type digital communications and data logging and, coupled with the dB series of transducers, measurment ranges from as little as 75mm right through to 40metres on solids or liquids. Zenith 140
Zenith 140 gives unparalleled control over a pumping station including digital inputs to protect equipment and sophisticated software to significantly reduce energy costs.
Blackbox
Deceptively simple, the blackbox range includes all the echo processing sophistication of the Ultra range, but without the display and on-board programming capabilities that are unneccessary in a distributed control environment. Programmed by a hand-held calibrator or from a computer, blackbox allows engineers to select the output to suit the application. The blackbox range also includes blackbox CSO, a dc powered data logging device specifically for monitoring Combined Sewer Overflows. Click here to download a PDF version of the blackbox brochure. Blackbox units can be teamed with any of the dB transducers, making a 125mm to 40m range available, as for the Ultra range.
blackbox 130 level | Outputs are 4-20mA and 2 alarm relays
blackbox 133 level control | Offers 0-5V to power a local display, 2 control relays and RS232 serial communications
blackbox 134 level comms | Digital communications via RS485 Modbus, together with RS232 and 2 control relays
blackbox 135 level comms | Digital communications via RS485 Profibus, together with RS232 and 2 control relays
blackbox 136 CSO | Exceptionally low power usage and on-board data logging designed especially for CSO applications and long term level data logging. |
blackbox MODEM | Blackbox modem incorporates an SMS modem that allows an operator to manage inventory across all his sites and locations, by providing an automatic indication in the form of an SMS message received at a PC that a vessel, silo or tank is at a low level or can accept a new delivery. Use Blackbox Modem to avoid those "I've run out, can you be here in five minutes" calls. Click here for a technical update |
